II 18-42 Hainault

The Bulldogs travelled to the New
River Stadium for this London League clash against an experienced Skolars
side. Hainault started slowly in the wet conditions and seemed hesitant in
meeting the big strong runners up front in the first five minutes. This
resulted in a quick lead for the Skolars with two tries to leave the
Bulldogs behind 10-0.
Once the Bulldogs started to
concentrate on their defence and meeting attackers, they found they were
able to quickly capitalise on errors, with tries from Terry Le Beau, Paul
Swift and Dan Murphy swinging the momentum the Bulldogs way. With superior
fitness the Bulldogs began to find the extra space needed to further
consolidate their lead with converted tries from Andy Long and Ben Smith.
Halftime could not come fast
enough for the Skolars, who regained some breath for the second half and
started strongly again with an unconverted try. The Bulldogs again composed
themselves with some solid defending by forwards and backs alike, and began
to run the Skolars defence ragged with more tries from Dan Murphy, Ben Smith
and Reece Barney before the marauding Joe Green settled the game with
another trademark try.
Coach
Reith was delighted that the Bulldogs maintained their unbeaten run and
believes they have plenty more to give. The Bulldog’s man of the match award
went to David North, for his awesome work rate.
