Early on
it looked like it would be tough game for the Storm
with hard running from the Tigers. But during the
first five minutes Storm took a stronger hold of the
game and Eric Stewart found the first gap to go over
for the try. Bedford struck right back with two
tries one converted on breakaways for Storm to worry
that it could be a long day.
Storm started to come back
into it, completing their sets of six and pinning
Bedford back into their own half with the kicks.
Chris Clark then found a hole in the defence to go
in under the posts the try being converted by Rich
Pitchfork and then Ollie Derbyshire and debutant
Polish player Patryck Kowalski made the ground for
Chris Clark to go over for his second, the
conversion by Pitchfork putting Storm ahead. Adrien Clark’s hard running
was paid off after he was put through a gap to score
just before half time. Taking the score to 20-10.
Bedford hit back straight
after the break with a converted try to scare Storm
as the gap closed to 20-16. Ben Hughes broke down
the wing for Storm, however, soon afterwards to
score in the corner, again the conversion from out
wide was scored by Rich Pitchfork.
With only 5 minutes left and
the game by no means over a high kick on the last by
Rich Pitchfork was tapped back by captain Rob
Mitchell superbly into the hands of the marauding
Chris Clark who ran through 2 defenders to score his
hat trick try under the posts leaving Pitchfork with
the easiest of conversions. With 5 minutes left this
finished the game off as it tailed down to a very
hard fought win for Storm by 32-16 taking them top
of the early London League.
