Kent Ravens continued their good run of form with an excellent win away to the notoriously difficult to beat Feltham Eagles on Saturday. With a play-off place getting closer by the week, the Ravens arrived to play the prison side clearly fired up for a tough game.
The game kicked off with the Ravens receiving, and from the outset it was clear that the tactics were going to be good discipline, and basic straight running sets of attack running from both sides.
On the second attacking set by the Ravens, the Eagles defensive line was broken and the Ravens ran in their first score under the posts to set the tone for the rest of the first half, with the Eagles seeming to be unable to cope with constant pressure of the Ravens attacking forwards and swift backs, and the first half finished with the Ravens able to keep possession at will. The Eagles only first half score coming from a Ravens error.
The second half began with the Eagles receiving and it was clear that they were not going to go down without a fight, and ran at the Ravens defence with all guns blazing, and were rewarded with a try a couple of minutes in, also scoring the goal. This started an entertaining end to end running game from both sides, and resulted with a try each, before the Eagles to put together three quick tries from their very quick backs. Some stern words from captain Andy Munro put the Ravens back into gear, and with the help of some strong tackling from everyone in the team they replied in kind, running in two quick tries to knock out the will of a tiring Eagles side and kill off the game.
A hat trick of tries from Captain Andy Munro, two each for Dan King and Ewen Drummond, and a try each for Warren Long and Jonathon Hills, and some great kicking from stand-in kicker James Dorman, the Raven's odds on winning the play-offs must surely be shortening with this very strong side.
