The ever improving Colchester Romans recorded a comfortable victory over an under strength Kent Ravens, extending their unbeaten run to four games.

From the beginning Colchester looked the stronger side, although Kent had the first opportunity to score when a penalty goal attempt went wide. Loose forward Mark Braidwood went over for the Romans first try after six minutes, and Colchester ran in three more before Kent replied through captain Ewan Drummond. Drummond crossed the line for a second try on the stroke of half time, but not before the Romans had scored two of their own to make the score 28-8 at the break.

Colchester stepped up the pace in the second half and continued to dominate play, Kent finding it hard to contain the rampaging Romans who scored six more times, although Drummond did get a third try.  There were hat tricks for Braidwood and 16 year old full back Jonathan Vine, with Jason Hatcher and Pat Duffy getting two each.

The win puts the Romans in third place in the table, just behind sister side Ipswich Rhinos II who lost to leaders Broadstairs in a hard fought game. Colchester travel to Broadstairs next Saturday, for what will be a very tough encounter.
