Kent Ravens secured a first ever victory in the LARL, as they faced local rivals Greenwich Admirals in a much anticipated meeting between the two sides at home on Saturday afternoon.

With both sides very fired up, the game kicked off with some ferocious tackling from both sides, so much so that the referee had to call both captains together for some stern words to calm things down, as the game threatened to boil over.

This settled things down a little, and the Ravens game plan seemed to spring into action, with a disciplined set of six tackles, which ended with a high kick to the Admirals defence who then gave away a penalty on their first tackle for kicking out during the tackle. From the penalty came the Ravens first try, scored by Dan King after a strong run, with the conversion struck sweetly by Captain Andy Munro.

This set the Ravens into a scoring frenzy, with a continuous flow of tries being scored one after the other and with Andy Munro's faultless kicking, it looked like it was going to be a long day for the Admirals.

To their credit, the Admirals did not let their heads go down and got on with the game in an effort to restore some pride, but they just didn't have any answer to the Ravens strong forwards and quick backs.

Some great breaks from dummy half by man of the match Jonathon Hills, who also went on to score the try of game, and strong running by Michael Vincent and Richard Maurins broke up the defence of the Admirals continuously, with the Hatzadakis brothers on both wings coming in field for some action, the Admirals must consider themselves lucky to go home conceding only ten tries, Dan King getting a hat-trick, as it could have been many more.

With a showing like this, along with some excellent interchanges and tactics from new coach Chris Symons, the Ravens look very likely to put some more excellent wins together and should make the end of season play-offs with ease.
